The Iconic Puzzle Game Didn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — A New Category May Address This Issue

As any prominent honors show approaches, one notices a demand for the addition of new categories to acknowledge underappreciated efforts and delight the hearts of enthusiasts dedicated to specific genres.

A fellow writer made the case advocating for terror-themed awards. It would be amazing. Equally deserving are tabletop games, which is a passionate advocate's mission. But they will have to forgive me when I prioritize because like all single-minded supporters, I possess a compelling case supporting my request stands as crucial and significant. This is the request: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Organizing artistic expressions isn't exact; it’s very subjective, and typically generate discussions and end in fuzzy definitions. There’s a reason film award organizations don’t do it. Yet it remains a necessary evil in the world of interactive entertainment, that demonstrate such variety they hardly constitute one unified medium.

For the full spectrum of interactive entertainment excellence to receive acknowledgment, and to ensure all game types to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Present Award Structure

Prominent interactive entertainment events presently include award types recognizing Action, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these six categories successfully include numerous genres, and you can find room for most games within them.

Different situation exists for puzzle games. No appropriate category exists to put them. Examine these examples from outstanding current releases, all very different: the architectural riddles in a particular game, the pulse-pounding block-matching in a different title, thought-provoking social scenarios in another game. Where could they possibly go among existing types? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Acknowledgment Issues

Numerous examples exist of brilliant puzzle games released every year that have no home in entertainment awards, unless they happen to qualify classification types such as Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, and the highly challenging independent game categories.

  • One classic puzzle game wasn’t nominated for anything that year
  • Another imaginative release received no nominations that year
  • A beloved organization game was overlooked in 2021
  • Just some puzzle games scraped into independent or mobile categories

Importance of Logic Titles

These are often modest productions, but the art of the puzzle game carries substantial weight. Well-known matching games count as the most-played games in the world continuing this trend for over a decade.

The famous puzzle experience challenges popular creative games for the title of highest-selling title ever; it additionally competes as greatest title ever. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks to the art of video games, while interacting across multiple categories.

Proposal and Rationale

Logic titles wouldn't face this problem. You could fill multiple candidates engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — or rather, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave many worthy titles.

And to reiterate, these are games without proper classification during prominent ceremonies. Logic title developers operate at the demanding boundary interactive creation, producing among most fundamental forms of the video game form. Comparable to film action specialists, they merit acknowledgment. We shouldn't delay generations.
