Automobiles in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Police mentioned they were contacted by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Police state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Police then discovered many other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say initial examinations show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.

A high-ranking political figure said the attack made him without words and required to be resolved promptly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
